No need to try and convince you. I mean, you’ve been there done that. The student can solve the problem one day and then act like they’ve never even seen it the next.

Maybe you’ve even tried some different resources, but they didn’t have the outcome you expected, and they didn’t help alleviate the problem of having students with a lack of background knowledge.
Here’s why most math resources won’t truly meet each student where they’re at:
They do a good job at presenting a specific math skill, and revisit it a few times, but before long, the skill is a thing of the past, leaving it stale in students’ minds.
Or there are so few problems on the page that students never really solidify the learning.
But perhaps, here is the biggest reason most math resources aren’t perfect for your students:
Most math resources are completely dependent on the teacher. The skill must be taught in order to practice. If the student forgets how to solve a problem, it’s the teacher’s job to reteach the problem.
And what if you have 30 kids in your class?
Ten of them are right where they need to be, ten are struggling a bit, and ten need help with just about every problem type.
Getting the math basics down is something students NEED to conquer.
