Description
Use these BOOM! Cards to make your task cards into a fun game that can be played in pairs or small groups. You will need a container of some sort to make the game – an oatmeal container, coffee can, or quart-sized milk carton (with the top cut off) will work well. The container will be your BOOM Bin.
Decorate your BOOM Bin and glue the directions to the front. Alternatively, you could make a directions card by laminating the directions. Print, cut, and laminate the BOOM! cards. Mix the BOOM Cards into another set of Task Cards. You can use any number of BOOM! Cards that you wish. This game will work best with multiple choice or short answer cards that can be answered quickly as opposed to those that must be worked out. You will also need an answer key.
Students take turns drawing cards out of the BOOM! Bin and answering questions. If the student answers correctly, she may keep the card. If she answers incorrectly, the card goes back into the BOOM Bin. Another player can check the answer using the answer key. When a student draws a BOOM! Card, he must discard all of his cards. The winner is the player with the most cards when the BOOM Bin is empty.
The BOOM! Cards were designed to be used with task cards I have created, however, they may work with other sets as well.
Task Cards for a variety of topics can be found in the Task Card section.
Happy Teaching!
