Description
Use these 32 story problem task cards to help your students gain fluency in solving multi-digit multiplication story problems. The odd numbered cards each feature a story problem which requires students to multiply a three or four-digit number by a one-digit number (e.g.: 4,276 x 7). The even numbered cards feature a story problem which requires students to multiply two, two-digit numbers (e.g.: 48 x 83). You can use all of the cards together or you can split them into subsets of odd and even numbered cards if you just want to focus on one of the two skills. A student answer sheet is provided (just have students use the correct column if working with a subset of the cards) as well as an answer key for self-correcting.
You may want to have students show their work on notebook paper and staple their papers to the answer sheet. These cards will work well at centers or stations, or for individual use. In addition, there is a cover card and a Challenge Card that can be used with any other card in the set to extend the activity.

The cards will look best in color, but will also print out fine in grayscale. Simply print and cut along the guidelines. Laminate and use them again and again. Alternatively, you could print on cardstock. It works well to keep them in a baggie. Another option is to hole-punch a corner of each card and put them all on a ring.
