This bundle includes this resource:
- Figurative Language Worksheets
NOTE: This resource uses American English and is not editable.
Pattern poems are a great way to provide structure but still allow for plenty of creativity. While learning these patterns, your students will also be practicing syllables, parts of speech, and figurative language.
Perfect for National Poetry Month or use all year long – at a poetry center, as homework, with a sub, or anytime you need an open-ended, creative activity. Another idea is to use the patterns to write about a science or social studies content area, or perhaps about a book students are reading. Also great for holidays like Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Mother’s Day.

Susan W. –
My students loved the different choices of poems. They loved doing a partner poem and all of them kept asking for a chance to do it with someone else.
Merilee G. –
I shared this on google classroom today! Kids were so excited and I’m so excited because it’s mostly self directed leaving me to help the most needy students. The only problem I had today was studentds kept acidentally deleting the texts boxes when they tried to erase. It’ll take some training so they can fix it themselves or not do it at all. Awedome product, thank you!
Alexandra Questa –
Love this resource to teach poetry to my resource room group! They need a lot of examples and step by step instructions, this unit has helped them understand poetry greatly.
Kinga E. –
There’s a really good variety of different types of poems. I used this during reading centers, and switched out the type of poem each week.
Nicole S. –

This will be a great resource as we begin our poetry unit! I can’t wait for students to learn about poetry while they write their own poems.

Having such a range of poetry types in one resort was much appreciated! It was so easy to implement and students loved all of it! We ended the unit with a poetry performance where students picked their favorite poem to perform.

Poetry is a hard topic to teach. This resource made it easy and fun for my fourth graders.

Thank you for this resource! Such a lifesaver! I am not a ‘poetry ‘ girl. This made my instruction and lessons so easy! I just might like poetry now! My students loved it as well. Highly recommend!
