Description
Here are 24 cards to help your students practice making predictions. Each card features a short story and asks students to predict what will come next. Use them orally in small groups, or individually as a writing assignment. There are two Answer Sheets for you to choose from. One has room for 12 answers, and the other has room for 6 answers but students are also asked to answer “How do you know?”. Students can also track the cards they have completed on the included Recording Sheet.
In addition, you will find a Challenge Card which can be used to extend the activity. This card asks students to use their predictions to write the next part of the story. An Answer Key is also included, though these cards are somewhat open-ended, so more than one answer may be valid.
Print this set out in color. For black and white printing, please use the included black line version. If you are printing in black and white, consider printing on colored paper. Simply print and cut along the guidelines. Laminate and use them again and again. Alternatively, you could print on card stock. It works well to keep them in a baggie. Another option is to hole-punch a corner of each card and put them all on a ring. A Cover Card to label your container or baggie is also included.
