Each of these cards requires students to follow instructions to improve a simple sentence by adding and/or changing words. Students will not only learn to make more interesting and elaborate sentences, but will also be reinforcing parts of speech skills. Three challenge cards are also included to extend the activity.
Two styles of student answer sheet are provided so you can use the one that works best for your grade level. Note that if you want your students to complete all 32 cards, you will need to copy the answer sheet 4 times. An sample answer sheet is also provided. Please keep in mind that these are suggested answers only. Your students’ answers will vary as this is a somewhat open-ended activity.
These cards will look best in color, but will also print out fine in grayscale. Simply print and cut along the guidelines. Laminate and use them again and again. Alternatively, you could print on cardstock. It works well to keep them in a baggie. Another option is to hole-punch a corner of each card and put them all on a ring.
