Each of these 35 cards features a different vocabulary activity and can be used with any list. While some of these activities are similar to those found on spelling task cards, the focus of this set is word meaning and usage rather than spelling. The activities are mostly writing based and require no special materials.
Students can complete a given number of cards per week or use at a center for extra practice. Not every card will work for every word or list (for example, the card that focuses on affixes will not work for words that do not have them), so you may want to pre-select which cards to use. In order to accommodate different grade levels, there are five different tracking sheets included that students can use to show which cards they completed. The tracking sheets are for 20 words, 16 words, 12 words, and 10 words respectively, plus one to use if you do not want students to write their vocabulary words on the tracking sheet.
These cards will look best in color, but will also print out fine in grayscale. Simply print and cut along the guidelines. Laminate and use them again and again. Alternatively, you could print on cardstock. It works well to keep them in a baggie. Another option is to hole-punch a corner of each card and put them all on a ring. If you are planning to use these as a major part of your vocabulary program, you might want to print out a set for each student.
