Description
These 12 close reading response bookmarks are a part of the much largerClose Reading Toolkit for Literature. I got so many requests for just the reading response bookmarks, that I decided to make them a product on their own. They are meant to be used while reading a chapter book or short story and are a great way to help your students dig and little deeper and keep them accountable for their reading. The first 3 bookmarks are annotation guides and the remaining 9 are formatted as mini graphic organizers. The bookmark format is not only fun but also the perfect size for reluctant readers and writers. Best of all, you can use these bookmarks again and again, even within the same book! Perfect for literature circles, independent reading programs like a reading workshop, or when you don’t have a literature guide.

I have used these in multiple different ways: reading conferences, book clubs, and whole group annotations. Love them! Thank you!

I love using these in conjunction with First Chapter Fridays! After we read a first chapter of a volunteer’s book together, students go back to their personal books and read a chapter of their SSR books. Then, they complete a bookmark from this resource! A great way to end Fridays!

These bookmarks are being used by my students as they read independently and for their summer reading books!

My students use these to ’empty their sponges’ before filling up with more reading. It’s a great way to record comprehension and have a way to report back to the class. They can refer back to them as a resource before reading the next chapter, use them as a guide for AR tests, and also earn class incentives for taking the time to fill them out! A win win in all of our books!
