Description
Use these 32 multiple choice Story Elements task cards to increase your studentsโ understanding of the building blocks that make up a story. Each card features a short passage that focuses on one of the following five story elements: setting, character, conflict, resolution, theme.
The terms “conflict” and “resolution” are used instead of “problem” and “solution”. While both are acceptable, conflict and resolution are more accurate in a literary context and are generally used in the upper grades. If you use problem and solution, this is a great time to introduce alternative vocabulary.
While some of these cards are fairly straightforward, others are more challenging. (Cards focusing on theme are especially challenging.) This increases the rigor of the activity and can be a great opportunity for discussion and debate!
These cards are great for practice, assessment, and test prep!
