- 32 Dictionary Task Cards (plus a digital version)
Details
- The 20 no-prep printables (or Google Slides) will help your students learn how to use the dictionary effectively. Some of them focus on specific skills and can stand alone, while others require the use of a dictionary. Worksheets that are used with a dictionary can be used with any printed English language dictionary, however, they will not work well with online dictionaries (due to a lack of guide words, multiple entries on a page and other differences). Answer keys included when appropriate.
- The 32 “Dictionary Dig” cards (or Google Slides) require students to find a word in the dictionary that fits the given clue (Please note that you will need a hardcopy dictionary as this activity will not work with an online dictionary). The clues are open-ended, so there will be several possible answers for each one. In fact, one way to offer an extra challenge is to require students to find two different words for each card.

This is the perfect set to help students practice their dictionary skills. Prior to teaching third grade, I didn’t even realize this was a skill they didn’t have. Thank goodness I found this resource! It has truly saved us! The best part is this set is designed so it can be used over and over again! Thank you!
