Description
This discounted bundle includes seven sets of creative and critical thinking task cards that will keep your students on their toes all year long. Kids love them and they are perfect for centers, fast finishers, or any time you have a few spare moments Save money by purchasing them as a bundle!
The 6 sets listed on TpT include Easel and Google Slides, so they can be used digitally! The bonus set is for print only.
This bundle includes 7 resources:
- Kangaroo Words Task Cards: Challenge your students’ creative and critical thinking skills with these kangaroo word task cards! A kangaroo word contains letters of another word (the joey word), in order, with the same meaning. For example: kangaroo: blossom joey: bloom (blossom) Your students will love working independently or together to decipher the joey word!
- Rhyme Time Task Cards: Practice using inference, learning new synonyms, and improving students’ vocabulary with these Rhyme Time (also known as “Hink Pinks”) puzzles! If you use the included Challenge Card, they will be working on parts of speech as well.
- Word Links Task Cards: Use these 126 critical thinking cards to help your students gain fluency with lateral thinking. Similar to the board game, TriBonds, each card requires students to come up with one word that links the three words on each card together. For example, the words, โcamp,โ โplace,โ and โwild,โ are linked by the word โfire.โ These cards can be used by students from grade four all the way to adults (try them yourself!).
- List it! Task Cards: Use these 60 cards as a fun creative thinking enrichment activity. Students can work on cards individually using notebook paper for their answers, or use as a game with groups. When using as a game, students can set a timer for one to three minutes depending on the age of your students. Students use personal white boards or notebook paper to list as many things as possible for the given card. One way to encourage original answers is to score the game by having students cross off answers given by other players.
- Odd One Out Task Cards: Each odd one out task card features four images (or descriptions for blackline) and asks the students to choose which one is the “odd one out”. Uniquely, there are multiple answers to build student creative and critical thinking skills!
- Three Reasons Why: Use these 24 creative thinking task cards to challenge your students’ critical thinking and lateral thinking skills! For best results, encourage students to come up with creative, yet plausible answers. You may also want to use these cards for sentence writing practice by requiring students to answer in complete and error-free sentences. Another option is to use the cards in groups and have students brainstorm answers verbally.

These are fun! Have been using with 3rd grade, and also used the ‘3 reasons why’ set when practicing modals of deduction with older ESL students.

I have to say, the creative and critical thinking task cards have been great in my third-grade classroom. Not only do the kids absolutely love them, but they have also become an integral part of our daily routine. These task cards are perfect for a variety of situations – whether it’s during centers, for fast finishers, or simply to make the most of those spare moments in the classroom. I’ve found them to be incredibly versatile. The bundles enhance their vocabulary, but also sharpens their analytical abilities. Thank you for creating such a wonderful resource!

This is a great bundle! I’ve used the activities with 2nd grade through 5th grade for different critical thinking challenges.

LOVED the fun, out-of-the-box thinking exercises! Was able to build on some of the activities for further writing lessons with my ELL students. Thanks!

Iโรรดm teaching a creative thinking class for the first time, and this bundle is full of great activities! These will definitely give us lots of opportunities to think outside of the box. Since my class is only a semester, Iโรรดll have the opportunity to reflect on which activities work best with my students and thereโรรดs loads of new options even for next year since we certainly wonโรรดt get through all of these.

I used these as enrichment choices for my second graders. I had no clue how much they would love them! By the end of the year, they were constantly asking if these cards could be choices for their ‘I’m Finished’ time. They promoted such great discussions within groups of students!

Any products that come from Rachel Lynette are fantastic! This product in particular allowed for fun and creative ways to get my student to think critically. All the task cards were a hit! Whenever I gave my students a choice of what to do during center time, they pulled out these task cards! I wish I could buy all of her products.
