Because these cards are meant for discussion or as writing prompts, they are not simple comprehension questions. Rather, they require students to explain, infer, analyze and evaluate. Many of these cards require students to support their answers with evidence from the text, making them perfect for close reading. Others ask students to form an opinion about a character or event. A few ask students to put themselves in a character’s shoes or to reflect on their own feelings.
If you are also watching the movie, you might also want to consider these Book vs. Movie task cards.
The precept cards are also great for discussion. Or you could follow Mr. Browne’s lead and discuss one each month and then have your students write an essay about what the precept means to them.
On a personal note, like many of you, I love the book Wonder and creating these cards has been one of my favorite TpT projects. I sincerely hope they will facilitate rich and meaningful discussions with your students, and possibly be a small part of creating a classroom where students are routinely “a little kinder than is necessary.”

Here’s what teachers are saying:
✏️ “My students are enjoying these as a discussion question. I have been giving them on the board and they write their own answer on a whiteboard and share/discuss. Great resource for deeper thinking!” -Sarah B.
✏️ “This resource was a lifesaver with my Year 6 students when we studied this book. It was so good to have one less thing to organise and the questions were always so good at getting discussions flowing and the kids writing! Highly recommend! : )” -Nioka-Lee F.
✏️ “Great resource. The questions really encouraged my students to engage with the book and discuss various aspects. The questions kept them focussed and interested. I used this with a homeschool co-op group and we used them in a literature discussion circle.” -Laura F.

This was a great resource to use in my 4th grade classroom!

These are great higher level thinking questions that led to great discussions between my students. Sometimes I put the question on the board and had students respond in their journal, and other times I put multiple questions on larger sheets of paper and had students walk around with groups and discuss then answer the questions together.

My students adore this novel and the task cards provide a way to assess their comprehension.
