Description
Explore cause and effect more deeply by generating causal relationships with these 24 task cards.
Each card relates an event in a single sentence and asks students to come up with both a possible cause and an effect for the event.
What’s Included?
- 24 Task Cards (color and black & white options)
- 3 Challenge Cards
- Recording Sheets (2 styles)
- Google Slides digital format
- ***Easel Activity (only available if you purchase on TPT)
- 2 Cause and Effect Anchor Charts / Posters
- 2 Cause and Effect Graphic Organizers
There are several Cause and Effect activities you can do with this resource. You could use them orally with small groups and have students discuss the answers. They could also be used individually with students answering on notebook paper or on provided answer sheets. A great way to extend this activity is to challenge students to come up with more than one cause and effect for each card. This will encourage them to reach beyond the obvious and to think creatively. Because this is an open-ended activity, an answer key is not provided.
For a different approach to cause and effect, check out the Identifying Cause and Effect Task Card Set.

Really helpful task cards. I embedded these into a Google Form so kids could get immediate feedback. Thanks for continuing to create high quality resources that are so versatile to use.
