  1. Julie E.

One of the most useful reading skill practice resources I’ve used!

  2. Getting Magical in 6th Grade

My students had fun using this resource to help them practice paraphrasing. We started by using them as a class, then in pairs – going over as a class, and on their own to turn in. It was a great way to use a variety of information and I didn’t have to spend a bunch of time looking up paragraphs.

  3. Lacy’s Language Library

This was a great way for students to review paraphrasing before they really began work on research using databases in the library. Students were engaged. It was difficult for many of them once they found the best and worst. They struggled to know how to place the two middle ones, but it made for great conversation with students.

  4. Tamekia M.

My students did well with this practice. It really helped them understand paraphrasing. They also found the reading topics engaging.

  5. Katelyn B.

Great activity for my middle school students to help them understand what it means to paraphrase-not just switching a few words around!

  6. Janet B.

I used this with my 7th grade students in science. They have such difficulty discerning some of the science words when they read; they end up copying and pasting. This resource provided them an opportunity to practice and learn the best ways to paraphrase. We also made a chant out of the 4 R’s so they can ‘play it in their head’ if they forget. Thank you for providing this, it has made a big difference in my class.

  7. Amy Curley

I used these in a small group (2 students) to work on paraphrasing.

  8. Rosanne H.

These are fabulous for getting kids to be in the routine of paraphrasing. I project them as well as provide them on slides for the kids individually. Great time of interactive learning.

  9. laura B.

I thought my students would find this tedious, but after spending 2.5 days doing this, they actually enjoyed it! Lots of great conversations going on about the text.

  10. Julie M.

I used these cards with a focus group for a Practicum for my Master’s. The kids loved these cards and they learned about paraphrasing. I like that these are ready to use. Just print and go!
