The words were a bit challenging for my ESL students, however, that made the activity more relevant. Students really had to look at the words on the card and really put the use of context clues into practice.

This is great practice for students who struggle to use context clues. The passages give just enough hints to help the student figure out the word meaning. I also like how the difficulty varies and how some have 2 answers that sound like they could be correct, so students get practice picking the best answer.
