I created these three games because several teachers have asked me if I had ideas about how to use Task Cards besides in Centers or with the game Scoot. These games are a fun alternative.
Use these three games with Task Cards or flash cards to reinforce skills or help with memorization. These games will work best with cards that have just one question and one correct answer for each card, and are in a short answer or multiple choice format. In all three games, students must answer a question from a card correctly before taking their turn. In Fly to the Finish and Race to the Moon, a single set of Task Card will work fine, however, Trading Places will require significantly more cards and would be more suited to flashcards (for example, multiplication facts or foreign language vocabulary words)
Making the Game
Each game is made from three pages. The first page is the title and instructions for the game. The next two pages are the game board itself. The easiest way to assemble the games is to glue the Title/Instructions to the front of a file folder and glue the two parts of the game board inside the folder. You may then want to laminate the whole thing. Please note that for Trading Places, you will need to use a ruler and a black marker to draw seven short lines to complete the hexagons in the center of the board.

Hereโs what teachers are saying:
โ๏ธ “This worked well as an independent extension with all kinds of math facts or other activities we had. You ca just pop on a game board and create an extra layer of engagement and fun adding that competition. Love and am planning to use with first grade this coming year. Thanks so much! My students loved when they saw the board added to an activity. Their comments were- “Yes! It’s now a game!” as they continued to practice their skills.” -Bilingual TX Teacher
โ๏ธ “We have been using these game boards for state test prep and word work so far. My students are loving learning! Thank you!” -Tricia C.
โ๏ธ “These are the best gameboards that I have found on TPT! They are perfect for literally any task cards that I print! Definitely a great find!” -Mariah W.

These are great for stations to use with whatever task cards I give my kids. Once they know how to play the game, I can continually change the cards.

I use this with one of my students, who is very hard to keep motivated through out the day. He loves a good competition and any chance to beat me at something. We use the different boards to paly the ‘Behavior Game’. I use Dojo, but he doesn’t care about it (mom likes to see his day though), so for every green point he gets to move on the game board, every red point I get to move on the game board, and at the end who ever has the most moves wins a prize out of a special mystery bag.
