Description

Use these 32, Common Core aligned, multiple choice Idiom Task Cards to help your students learn the meanings of common idioms. In addition to the 32 cards, there is also a Challenge Card that can be used with every other card in the set to extend the activity. The Challenge Card requires students to write a short paragraph using the idiom on the card. A student answer sheet is included as well as an answer key so students can check their work. The multiple choice format make these cards great for test prep. Use at centers, in pairs or small groups or with your entire class using a game like Scoot.

Color and black line versions are both included in this download. Simply print and cut along the guidelines. Laminate and use them again and again. Alternatively, you could print on cardstock. It works well to keep them in a baggie. Another option is to hole-punch a corner of each card and put them all on a ring.

  2. Silly in SPED

I have used this EVERY DAY with my students since I purchased them! I have used them to teach my students with autism an “Idiom of the day.” And then we use the flash cards for reviewing, iep goal progress monitoring, and assessments!

  3. Briana M.

Thank you so much. My students and I enjoyed this resource.

  6. Melissa B.

My students enjoyed using these task cards to review idioms. We used them with a game. As groups got the correct answer, they were able to move on the game board. The task cards were on 4th grade standards but easy enough for my students with disabilities to use.

  7. Laura P.

This resource is a great addition to any ELA lesson to support students’ understanding of idioms. My students love moving around the room, so I always try to find fun scoot activities like this to keep them engaged. I also use these task cards with my Document camera and student whiteboards for review and practice. Thank you!
