There are 4 article-length passages included.
- Each passage is presented at two reading levels (V.1 and V.2 in the upper right-hand corners) so you can differentiate as needed.
- The passages are related, but each one can also work as a stand-alone activity.
- Each passage also includes a text feature in the form of a picture, diagram, or text box.
- Each passage focuses on different aspects of close reading.
- Audio support is included on the digital versions.

- Two graphic organizers which focus on craft and structure and are perfect for using after the second read.
- A text-dependent questions printable for use after the third read.
- Text-dependent cut-outs โ these are the same questions from the printable, but are formatted to be cut out and used in interactive notebooks or with notebook paper.

The passages themselves are presented much as you might see them in the real world (so no cute fonts, images, or borders. This will allow your students to focus on the text without distractions and will also give them room to annotate in the margins. The landscape format is perfect for interactive notebooks โ you can either fold the page in half so that it opens like a book, or you can cut the page down the center and glue the halves on opposite pages.
