Students will need to use the context clues within the sentences to discern the correct transition. The multiple-choice format facilitates vocabulary acquisition in that even if a student does not know the meaning of the correct word or phrase, he or she can use the process of elimination to get the correct answer, thereby gaining an understanding of the meaning of the transition.
