This discounted bundle includes seven sets of creative and critical thinking task cards that will keep your students on their toes all year long. Kids love them and they are perfect for centers, fast finishers, or any time you have a few spare moments Save money by purchasing them as a bundle!
The 6 sets listed on TpT include Easel and Google Slides, so they can be used digitally! The bonus set is for print only.
This bundle includes 7 resources:
- Kangaroo Words Task Cards: Challenge your students’ creative and critical thinking skills with these kangaroo word task cards! A kangaroo word contains letters of another word (the joey word), in order, with the same meaning. For example: kangaroo: blossom joey: bloom (blossom) Your students will love working independently or together to decipher the joey word!
- Rhyme Time Task Cards: Practice using inference, learning new synonyms, and improving students’ vocabulary with these Rhyme Time (also known as “Hink Pinks”) puzzles! If you use the included Challenge Card, they will be working on parts of speech as well.
- Word Links Task Cards: Use these 126 critical thinking cards to help your students gain fluency with lateral thinking. Similar to the board game, TriBonds, each card requires students to come up with one word that links the three words on each card together. For example, the words, “camp,” “place,” and “wild,” are linked by the word “fire.” These cards can be used by students from grade four all the way to adults (try them yourself!).
- List it! Task Cards: Use these 60 cards as a fun creative thinking enrichment activity. Students can work on cards individually using notebook paper for their answers, or use as a game with groups. When using as a game, students can set a timer for one to three minutes depending on the age of your students. Students use personal white boards or notebook paper to list as many things as possible for the given card. One way to encourage original answers is to score the game by having students cross off answers given by other players.
- Odd One Out Task Cards: Each odd one out task card features four images (or descriptions for blackline) and asks the students to choose which one is the “odd one out”. Uniquely, there are multiple answers to build student creative and critical thinking skills!
- Three Reasons Why: Use these 24 creative thinking task cards to challenge your students’ critical thinking and lateral thinking skills! For best results, encourage students to come up with creative, yet plausible answers. You may also want to use these cards for sentence writing practice by requiring students to answer in complete and error-free sentences. Another option is to use the cards in groups and have students brainstorm answers verbally.

I have these on my SMARTBoard in my classroom when the kids enter. This gives my ‘early arriving’ students something to do and the rest of the kids, it gives them a reason to get to my room. They have a slip of paper to write the answer on (or best guess) and drop it in the drawing bucket. When the bell rings, the bucket goes away. So, it gives kids a desire to get to class on time. I also love it because it gets them thinking about about words in a different way. It taps into a different way of thinking.

Thank you so much…this was a great resource and super helpful!
Jamie Schwartz –
A fun bundle of task cards to increase engagement, fill in when you have just a few minutes, and use as an incentive to get other work completed.
Carla Jamieson –
My students used this product as a whole group activity for my 5th graders answering on whiteboards. We first did this as whole group so they would understand how to answer the cards. Now that they understand what to do, I have these task cards as early finishers activity. I even used these for when a sub was in…I just put them in a Google Slide, one per slide, and had the students answer as many as they could. They loved them! Thank you!
Raise the Rigor –
Great resource to use for quick activities when I push into gifted classes.

I love this resource! They are great for the students who are early finishers. I love that they fit in those task box carriers.
Summers in School –
I loved using these to get my students to listen to one another and think creatively, which they sometimes dislike. Thank you!

I have made copies of these cards and I put them under the document camera and have them answer questions, like for bell work. The kids have loved the ones we have used.

This was great to use with my advanced academic students who needed an extension in their learning. They loved the challenge and engagement it provided.
