Description
Paraphrasing is an essential skill for many types of writing, but a difficult one to master. This differentiation bundle is perfect for teachers who teach multiple grade levels or for 4th-grade teachers who have students that are not quite ready for the advanced cards yet and would benefit from some easier practice before moving on.
For younger or struggling students, start with Set 1, which features a different fun fact sentence for students to paraphrase. Paraphrasing a single sentence is a great way to introduce this challenging skill.
When your students are ready (or for older or more advanced learners), move on to Set 2, which features a different informational text (nonfiction) paragraph for students to paraphrase. These paragraphs are ideal for working on this skill because their shorter length will not overwhelm your students, but will still provide plenty of practice.
In addition to the task cards (2 sets of 32 cards each), you will also get challenge cards, 3 different student response options, sample answer keys, and a PARAphrase poster. In addition, all materials also come in blackline versions.

This was exactly what I needed, thanks for saving me time!
Elizabeth W. –
I have to use so many ways to teach this topic and am always looking for another way. This came in handy and I could level the lessons by choosing the degree of difficulty for my students
Samantha D. –
This was a great filler activity as we began our Argumentative Writing Unit. Students got a handle on how to paraphrase properly before having to do so in their own essays.
Wendy Boucher –
Great print and go resource to use whole group or small group.
Amelia W. –
I used this during tele therapy, and it was a great way to introduce paraphrasing. I also love how the bundle includes longer passages, for when my students work toward this
Kara Mason –
This resource was a great way for the students to practice paraphrasing before we wrote our informational essays!
Larissa M. –
Fabulous resources for differentiated practice of paraphrasing as a class and as individuals

Great task cards with differentiation. Allowed kids to gain some solid understandings around the tricky concept of paraphrasing. They certainly supported my teaching.
