One of the big issues I have come across here in Spain is that kids don’t know how to paraphrase. They are so used to copying and pasting that they do it systematically. In my classroom, there is no copying, so at times an issue comes up as a result. These cards should help to show the kids that it isn’t that hard and with plenty of practice, they’ll be set to go in no time. Thank you!

This was a great resource to explicitly teach paraphrasing. After I modelled one and showed examples the students were able to complete a task card. This is a great activity especially before working on a research project.

This was a great resource to use. I used it with an afterschool program. Some students worked in groups and others worked individually.

My 8th grade students REALLY struggle with paraphrasing and summarizing (and plagiarism) this year. I gave this as extra practice and felt it provided an easy to use platform to look at how we paraphrase things. (Also I’m from Newark, OH so I enjoyed the last paraphrasing card) 🙂 Thank you! I’ll use this again!

I LOVE this activity! So many slides of practice for my students; it was so helpful in teaching them to paraphrase. Also, it’s easy to use and asthetically pleasing to the eye. Thank you!

This was a perfect resource to teach paraphrasing. The paragraphs were short and interesting, so the students could be successful right from the start. We started with underlining words we wanted to find synonyms for, then circling words that could not be changed. Then we rearranged sentences and lastly checked to see if the paraphrased version kept the essence of the original. This resource saved me time. Thanks. Sharon Copper

Was what I needed for a quick informal assessment of paraphrasing skills with a student. I will continue to use it as a resource for teaching paraphrasing skills.
